Jose Mourinho's heartfelt message for Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool win Champions League

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has offered up a message for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after the Reds' 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

Klopp came into the clash in Madrid having lost his last six Cup finals dating back to his time with Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

The Liverpool manager was searching for his first trophy since joining the club and had lost his previous two Champions League finals.

Liverpool lost the showpiece event to Real Madrid last year, while Klopp's Borussia Dortmund side were defeated by Bayern Munich in 2013.

Klopp also saw his Dortmund team lose the German Cup final in 2012, 2014 and 2015, while Liverpool lost the League Cup and Europa League Cup finals in 2016.

This left former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger declaring ahead of the match that Liverpool would have a 'problem' if Klopp lost a seventh consecutive final.

But after the game his fellow pundit on beIN Sports for the night, Mourinho, declared that he was delighted for Klopp that he had finally managed to get over the final hump.

"A manager who reached three Champions League Finals, it's hard to lose one, must be very, very hard to lose two and today I think it's a phenomenal day of his life, of his career. As a colleague, I’m very happy with it," Mourinho told beIN Sports.
