José Mourinho has never won a Premier League match at St James’ Park. Here are his five failed attempts during two spells as the Chelsea manager.
May 2005 Newcastle United 1 Chelsea 1 (Geremi og 33 Frank Lampard pen 35)
A draw was not too disappointing: Chelsea were already champions and moreover set the record for the fewest number of top-flight goals conceded in a season, their 15 beating Liverpool’s tally of 16 in 1978-79.
Newcastle manager: Graeme Souness.
May 2006 Newcastle 1 Chelsea 0 (Bramble 73)
Stephen Carr was sent off but Newcastle booked their place in the Intertoto Cup over the repeat champions.
Newcastle manager: Glenn Roeder.
April 2007 Newcastle 0 Chelsea 0
A point was as bad as a defeat for Chelsea who were chasing Manchester United for the title without success.
Newcastle manager: Roeder.
November 2013 Newcastle 2 Chelsea 0 (Gouffran 68, Rémy 89)
Loïc Rémy scored against his now manager leaving Chelsea joint second in the table with Liverpool. More shockingly, Arsenal were top.
Newcastle manager: Alan Pardew.
December 2014 Newcastle 2 Chelsea 1 (Cissé 57, 78, Drogba 83)
Invincible no longer, the league leaders let slip their unbeaten record for the season - blame the ballboys.
Pardew has now clinched a hat-trick of home Premier League victories against Chelsea, the last two against Mourinho teams and the first, a 3-2 victory in February 2013, against Rafael Benítez’s Chelsea.
Newcastle manager: Pardew.
