Jose Mourinho's best quotes and moments from his first Tottenham Hotspur press conference

Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media for the first time since becoming the new head coach at Tottenham.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss faced the media at Hotspur Way this afternoon (Thursday), less than 36 hours after being appointed by Tottenham to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

His predecessor was discussed, among other topics as the Portuguese manager spoke for the first time in north London, with some .

And here are some of his best quotes from the press conference.

On Mauricio Pochettino:

"I've been smiling for two days. First of all I do it with a bit of sadness, I have to speak about Mauricio.

"I have to congratulate him on the incredible job he did. I share with you what we shared inside. This club will always be his home, this training ground his training ground. He is always welcome here. Tomorrow is another day.

"He will find happiness soon. He will give everything like he did at this club. He will leave with sadness with the feeling that he did great work. It is what everyone at the club felt."

On making mistakes:

"I'm not going to make the same mistakes. I'm going to make new mistakes.

"I'm going to be stronger. From an emotional point of view I'm relaxed, motivated and ready and I think the players felt that these two days. I'm ready and I'm here to support them.

"In life you go through periods like this, where it's not about myself, it's about my players and my club."

The need for new players:

"The best gift are the players who are here. I don't need new players. I just need to get to know these ones better. I know them well but you never know them well enough until you meet them.

"I told the players I came here because of them. I tried to buy some for different clubs and some I didn't even try because you know how difficult it was.

"I don't want to make big changes. I want to respect the base that they did for five and a half years. It's not what they did for the last two days."

His style of play:

"Very similar to before. Of course I will try to add details, and sometimes details can make the difference. Progressively we can arrive to a fingerprint. The style of play must be adaptive to the club culture and also the players here."

Mourinho was also asked about being seen as 'Mr Chelsea', with the Spurs head coach adding:

"I think I am Mr Inter, Mr Porto and Mr Real Madrid and other clubs as well, I am whatever club I am at. I wear the pyjamas of the club and sleep in them. I am a club man, but I am a many club man. Now I only have one shirt and only one passion and only one thing in my mind, which is my club, and that is Spurs."

In addition, he was asked about his quotes from 2015, when he was asked if he would ever come to Spurs, to which he replied: "Never, I love the Chelsea fans too much".

When asked what had changed, Mourinho simply added: "That's before I was sacked."
