Jose Mourinho reveals UEFA demand after 'funny situation' in Tottenham's Europa League win

Tottenham discovered the goalposts were too small ahead of their Europa League clash with KF Shkëndija, Jose Mourinho has revealed.

Spurs won the game 3-1 in Macedonia, passing through to the Europa League qualifying play-offs round thanks to goals from Erik Lamela, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane.

But before the game, a strange situation occurred after Spurs' goalkeepers discovered the goalposts were too small before the game.

The UEFA delegate was forced to check and after confirming they were indeed the wrong size, new goalposts had to be fitted.

Rob Guest on Spurs' Europa League win

"Before the game was a funny situation because my goalkeeper told me the goal was small," Mourinho said after the game.

"I went to see and it was small. The goalkeepers spend all their time in them so we know.

"I felt immediately something was wrong and we got the UEFA delegate to come in and it was 5cm too small.

"We asked for goals of the right dimensions."

Spurs went on to take the lead in the tie through Lamela before being pegged back following a stunning Valmir Nafiu strike.

But goals from red-hot duo Kane and Son ensured Mourinho's men progressed.
