Jose Mourinho reveals the Sir Bobby Robson passion he still does not understand

Jose Mourinho has revealed he still does not understand Sir Bobby Robson's 'love' for cricket more than three decades on from working with the Newcastle United legend.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham manager has previously described himself as a 'little Magpie' after working closely with the future Newcastle boss for five years.

The pair first crossed paths at Sporting Lisbon in 1992, and Mourinho would follow Sir Bobby for spells at Porto and Barcelona.

Mourinho's respect for the Toon legend has been well-documented, with several crediting the former Newcastle manager for his role in launching the "Special One's" own managerial career.

The generational gap did not prevent the pair from forging a strong bond, with Mourinho's 'thirst for knowledge' coupling well with Sir Bobby's experience.

However, the now Roma manager admits there was one passion from his mentor that he could never fully get to grips with.

Mourinho told the Sun: "There is only one sport that I still don't understand which is cricket.

"When I was working for Sir Bobby Robson I admired how much he loved the game, and I couldn't understand how much he loved the game because I couldn't even understand the game.

"After 25 or 30 years, I still don't understand the game."
