Jose Mourinho has claimed Joe Rodon "has to do nothing" to come back into his Tottenham thinking.
A regular on the bench for Spurs following his move from Swansea City, Rodon was handed successive starts against Sheffield United, Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion in January as he was given his chance in the XI.
Although he did make an error for the Reds' third goal in their 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Wales international performed extremely well and was praised by Tottenham fans following his displays.
However, Mourinho has changed things up again recently in terms of his centre-back pairing and that has unfortunately seen the young defender miss out.
Failing to make the matchday squad in the league in the past three games, Rodon has also had to watch on in the Europa League as he wasn't registered for the knockout stages of the competition with Mourinho once again keeping his squad exactly the same.
While opportunities may not be coming his way at present, the Welshman is still doing everything right on the training pitch at present to impress his head coach.
"He has to do nothing," he said in his pre-match press conference. "He works very hard, good professional. He has to do nothing.
"He cannot play in the Europa League so that makes his chances reduced, in relation to the other guys.
"Centre-back is a position where of course if he was in the Europa League he would have lots of chances to play in these 11 matches that we did.
"There's nothing. He’s perfect, works very hard, young guy, wants to learn, very enthusiastic.
"He played already matches that represent a lot, he played important matches against some of the best teams.
"He has just to wait for his opportunities and to get it."
