Jose Mourinho reveals honest thoughts on Zinedine Zidane's return to Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho has admitted that Zinedine Zidane is "the best person" for Real Madrid , despite the Portuguese being linked with a return to the club himself.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss was widely tipped to make over from the sacked Santiago Solari earlier this month, only for Zidane to return to the club he left last summer.

The Frenchman won three successive Champions Leagues at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Mourinho says that there is a lot more to come from him.

"I do not think we can talk about a career for him yet," Mourinho told Canal Plus , via Goal.com , when discussing Zidane.

"But in a very short time, he did what no one had done before, that is winning three consecutive Champions Leagues.

"Now he is starting a new step in his career. He has to build a team, he has to make choices, buy players, sell them. He has to train them, give them his philosophy of play.

"I think he's probably the best person for this club."

Having been sacked by United in December, Mourinho is eyeing a return to football at the start of next season.

And the Portuguese went on to elaborate just what he misses from not being involved in the game at the moment, and his motivations to return.

"Day after day, I miss training. I'm not going to hide it," he said.

"There's something going on in my head, winning a fifth league and a new Champions League with a third club."
