Jose Mourinho refuses to deny claim Christian Eriksen wants Tottenham transfer exit

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho refused to deny that midfielder Christian Eriksen wants to leave the club in the January transfer window.

Eriksen’s current Spurs contract expires next June and he is expected to depart.

While he is widely believed to have requested to leave the club last summer, Tottenham did not receive a suitable offer to sell their playmaker.

Tottenham look likely to try to cash in on Eriksen next month, with the player free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with European clubs from January.

Mourinho remained tight-lipped on his future - but refused to deny that he is looking to leave.

"I only know his contract ends at the end of the season and the conversations I have had with Christian are private conversations that I am not going to share," Mourinho said.

"I think it is a personal thing. I am not going to share.

"He was so honest with me and I was so honest with him that our relationship is really, really good.

"We have a very good relationship that started on day one. I am not going to betray that trust and relationship.

"I just share these intimate conversations with the structure of the club, and Christian obviously knows I am an important part of the club and my job is to share with the structure but to you, it is not for me to say.

"It is up to Christian to tell anything he wants to or not."

Eriksen struggled in midweek as Spurs were beaten by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

It led to former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher stating he "doesn't want to be there" and needs to leave.

"Christian Eriksen has fallen out of love with the club," Fletcher told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"He obviously doesn't want to be there."

Ex-Spurs striker Peter Crouch was also scathing in his view of Eriksen while speaking on  BT Sport  , saying "Eriksen was a disappointment tonight, he needs to get his head down or not play."
