Jose Mourinho proven right about one Chelsea player after transfer message to Marina Granovskaia

Kurt Zouma has played a key role in Chelsea's back-to-back Premier League wins over Watford and Crystal Palace.

After the Blues were beaten 3-2 by West Ham, the French central defender was recalled to starting line-up by Frank Lampard in place of Antonio Rudiger.

Zouma, who spent last season on loan at Everton, was impressive during the game - and his performance was even praised by former Chelsea captain John Terry.

After the match, the official club Instagram account posted a picture of Zouma making a perfect tackle on Benteke during the game, and Terry responded by commenting: "What a tackle, @kurtzouma."

Frank Lampard on Willian's form amid contract uncertainty

Despite finding it difficult to get regular gametime this season, Zouma appears to be in favour under Lampard.

And it appears Jose Mourinho's prediction has been proven right. The now Tottenham Hotspur head coach was in charge at Stamford Bridge when Zouma moved to Chelsea from Saint-Etienne, and judging by his comments last summer, the Spurs boss is still a big fan of the defender.

Chelsea had just appointed Lampard, and there was a question of how the Blues would replace David Luiz, who joined Arsenal.

But Mourinho was adamant that Zouma would prove to be a key player for the Blues this season.

“I just give an example: Chelsea needs a centre-back – Kurt Zouma. You don’t need to buy, you don’t need to spend. Zouma," Mourinho told Sky Sports at the time.

“He’s champion of England, he played for Chelsea, played for Stoke in the Premier League, played for Everton in the Premier League, played for France.

“He’s your player, he’s on loan, where are you going to buy a better player than him?

“You have him.”
