Jose Mourinho pinpoints what Tottenham's win at Wolves was a 'perfect example' of

There was late drama at Molineux this afternoon (Sunday) as Jan Vertonghen scored in injury time to give Tottenham all three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After Adama Traore had cancelled out Lucas Moura's early strike, the game looked to be heading towards a draw, but Vertonghen had other ideas, heading home from a corner in injury time to give Jose Mourinho's side the victory.

And Mourinho was full of praise for his side following the game, hailing the team effort from the Lilywhites in a hard-fought clash against Wolves.

"Sometimes football is strange," he said, speaking in his post-match press conference.

"It could have been the same game but without that goal Wolves would be one point ahead of us and we would not be so happy.

"But a winning team starts with that mentality. The concept of a team is that base for a team that is capable of winning. This match is the perfect example of a match that only a team can win. You have to be a team.”

Mourinho was also asked about the problems caused by Wolves, with Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga forced to make several fine saves to keep the hosts out at times.

But Mourinho said that after a fast start to the game from the visitors, it was not going to be possible to maintain that for the whole game.

“The problem is not the defence. It is the whole team," he said.

"When my three attacking players press high, as they did at the start of the game, well you know you’re not going to be able to do it all game.”
