Jose Mourinho pictured with Leicester's Demarai Gray amid Tottenham transfer links

Tottenham are closing in on their first signing of the summer and Jose Mourinho's pitchside chat with Leicester City's Demarai Gray on Sunday will have sparked further speculation.

Standard Sport understands that Spurs have won the race to sign 15-year-old Alfie Devine from Wigan , with a medical and personal terms agreed over the last few days.

Transfer funds have been hit hard at Tottenham by the coronavirus pandemic, with Mourinho told to focus on free transfers, loans and swap deals.

Tottenham have followed Gray since his days at Birmingham, where he made his debut as a 17-year-old in October 2013. He moved to Leicester in January 2016 when his £3.75million release clause was triggered.

Reports ahead of the weekend claimed Spurs were again looking at Gray, who has fallen out of favour under Brendan Rodgers and could be available on a cut-price deal with the 24-year-old out of contract next summer.

Gray was a half-time substitution on Sunday with Leicester City 3-0 down and Mourinho was pictured talking to the former England Under-21 international at full-time.

Spurs have made Southampton's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - the subject of a £25m bid from Everton last week - a key target so it remains to be seen if the funds are available for two young midfielders.
