Jose Mourinho or Steven Gerrard could 'fit the bill' for Rangers as they search for their new manager.
That's the view of Gers legend Ally McCoist.
Barry Ferguson remains in interim charge of the Ibrox club until the end of the season.
With new ownership set to take over the club in the shape of takeover-latest-news-updates-interviews/" target="_blank">49ers Enterprises in May, it is expected that the club will wait until after that move is completed before appointing a new permanent manager.
Asked if Mourinho or Gerrard would fit the profile of what Rangers are looking for, McCoist concurred, although stressed they would need to be seriously backed in a financial sense.
He told talkSPORT BET: "Yes, I think both could fit the bill in terms of stature and what they’d bring to the club and Scottish football in general.
"But they’d both need proper financial backing. The current squad just isn’t strong enough.
"It’s absolutely vital that his (Gerrard) next job is the right one. It didn’t quite work out at Villa or in Saudi Arabia.
"It’s similar to Frank Lampard—his move to Coventry has been crucial in getting his managerial career back on track.
"Steven’s in that same position. His next step needs to be spot on."
