Jose Mourinho on 'bad' Harry Kane injury news ahead of Liverpool clash at Spurs

Liverpool will be focused on facing rivals Everton in the FA Cup third round this weekend but some significant news has emerged ahead of the Reds' clash against Tottenham in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's men face Spurs in the capital on Saturday January 11 and ahead of the fixture, Totttenham boss Jose Mourinho has provided an update on Harry Kane's fitness.

Spurs went down to a surprising 1-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day, with Kane suffering a hamstring injury during the contest.

Mourinho has now explained that the club are expecting 'bad' news in relation to the results of Kane's injury, though he stopped short of confirming exactly how long the England captain will be sidelined.

"I don't know yet, I think maybe later today we have news," Mourinho explained, per Sky Sports .

"But if you ask me just my feeling, good news or bad news, I am more bad news than good news, what the player felt, Harry Kane leaving a match the way he did.

"He didn't think twice, didn't take him two seconds to realise the severity of the situation."

Liverpool lead the Premier League by 13 points ahead of next Saturday's tea-time encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But the Reds are more focused currently on meeting Everton in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
