Jose Mourinho names the Tottenham player he feels is improving a lot this season

Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, who he claims is improving a lot in different aspects of his game.

The Spurs midfielder has been a regular in Mourinho's side in recent weeks and has now featured in 30 games for Tottenham this season.

He has established himself in the midfield amid injuries to other players, and Mourinho has been full of praise for the 24-year-old and what he can offer the team.

Responding to a question in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Wolves, Mourinho spoke about his reasoning behind playing in recent weeks without a positional midfielder, with Winks one of the players he singled out for praise.

Jose Mourinho: I have no complaints about my players

"It is more offensive way to play. So don't be critical," he said.

"It is a way to try and compensate a lack of attacking power so if you don't have the goalscorers that can score the goals in very few occasions you create, you can be more solid.

"If you don't have that you have to try to have more creative people, that can try from behind to be more forward-thinking instead of being the more typical player that recovers the ball and keep it simple with lateral and square passes.

"It is somebody with a different vision. For example, [Giovani] Lo Celso can arrive and create, [Tanguy] Ndombele can arrive and create. [Harry] Winks is improving a lot, a lot. He thinks much more forward than before.

"Even in the area of his movement, he was a lot more positional than he is now. Now you can see him on the left and the right trying to do that.

"So it is trying to compensate problems that we have with a different perspective.
