Jose Mourinho makes his return to Old Trafford on Wednesday evening following his Manchester United dismissal 12 months ago.
Finishing the previous season in second place behind Man City, the Red Devils endured a frustrating start to the campaign and it resulted in the manager losing his job following their 3-1 defeat at Liverpool.
One of the main talking points during his tenure was the fact that he decided to reside in the Lowry Hotel for two-and-a-half years rather than buy a property in Manchester.
As his family remained based in the capital during his time up north, he elected to stay in one of the luxury hotel's Riverside Suites before returning to London after 895 days in the job.
Coming face-to-face with United this evening for the first time since his exit last December, Mourinho has revealed exactly why he decided to stay in the hotel close to Old Trafford during his time in charge of the club.
"You know how I would be unhappy? I would be unhappy if I was in a house on my own," he told reporters at Hotspur Way.
"I would have to clean, I don't want. I would have to iron, I don’t know how to. I have to cook, I would cook fried eggs and sausages - that’s the only thing I can do. I would be very unhappy.
"I lived in an amazing apartment, it was not a room. It was mine all the time. It was not like after one week I had to leave.
"No, it was mine. I left everything there, I had my television, my books, my computer.
"It was a flat, with "bring me a coffee latte, please" or "I don't want to go down for dinner, bring my dinner up".
"I was watching football or doing work with one of my assistants I would ask "bring us food".
"I had everything, if I was in an apartment alone it would be much more difficult. I was fine, more than fine."
