Jose Mourinho: Man City's B team has a better chance of winning the title than Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal

Jose Mourinho has ruled Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal out of the Premier League title race, with Manchester City's 'B' team ranked as a stronger team.

The new top-flight season began on Friday night as last season's runners-up Liverpool thrashed newly promoted Norwich City 4-1 at Anfield.

The following lunchtime, reigning champions City responded by putting five past West Ham at the London Stadium.

Tottenham, who finished behind Chelsea last season, survived a scare to beat Aston Villa 3-1 in north London.

Appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports ahead of United, Chelsea and Arsenal's first games, Mourinho was asked how many teams can challenge of title.

He said: "Four. Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool, and then Man City B team."

Pep Guardiola boasted a strong bench on Saturday, with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and new signing Joao Cancelo all not in the starting line-up.

Mourinho added: "When I looked at [Man City's] bench yesterday, the players not involved I think even the B team could fight for the title.

“I want to say that the obvious thing, we would love United & Chelsea at that level.

"In football, sometimes unpredictable things can happen, but I think we all agree, a team last season that won everything in England last season and the European champions.”
