Tottenham fans have taken to social media urging Jose Mourinho to give Irish striker Troy Parrott a chance in the midst of a Spurs striker crisis.
Harry Kane is sidelined until April with a hamstring injury and Son Heung-Min has now been ruled out with a broken arm.
This leaves Mourinho short on options up front for the visit of German Bundesliga high-flyers RB Leipzig tomorrow in the Champions League last 16.
Mourinho handed Parrott his senior competitive debut from the bench in Spurs' 5-0 thrashing of Burnley back in December. But the Portuguese boss has played down the hype around the 18-year-old Dubliner since then.
With Son and Kane out of action, a number of Spurs supporters called for Parrott to be thrown in at the deep-end against Leipzig.
However, when asked about Parrott and Ryan Sessegnon as possible options at a press conference today, Mourinho replied: “My thoughts are that Troy Parrott is not ready and Ryan Sessegnon is not a striker.”
Spurs supporters have called on Mourinho to give youth a chance, with one tweeting: "Troy Parrott has to be given his chance now because we’ve got no other choice, be it from the bench or from the start I don’t care."
"Surely Troy Parrott will get a chance now," was the opinion of another Spurs fan.
Another observed: "If Troy Parrott doesn't get a chance now, he probably never will. We don't have our main striker. We never had a back-up. Our emergency forward is now out. So if the kid doesn't get a shot on the back of this, does Jose even actually rate him at all?"
