Jose Mourinho makes Tottenham admission as Arsenal legend delivers surprise prediction

Jenas picks out what’s gone wrong at Spurs

Former Tottenham midfielder has explained what has gone wrong at his former club this season, and especially in recent games.

Spurs are now down in ninth-place following a goalless draw with Bournemouth, where they didn’t register a single shot on target.

Jenas said on BBC 5Live: “I think there is a complete lack of planning. When they got to the Champions League final, that was an opportunity to cement themselves as a top-four side, playing Champions League football year-in, year-out and attract the right people.

“We went into a window talking about (Paulo) Dybala, (Philippe) Coutinho and all these top, world-class players and ended up with nothing… nothing!”

Mourinho makes claim about his time at Spurs

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has explained how he thinks his time at the north London club has gone so far.

Mourinho took over Spurs in November following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino, and has highlighted injury problems having a big effect in his brief spell at the club so far.

The former Chelsea manager said: “I arrive, we improved, we had good matches, we had good results. The house that we were building collapsed with an absolutely crazy number of injuries that put us in a position where we started the competition after the stop.

“Everything was crazy. Of course we try to motivate ourselves during these three months. We try to motivate ourselves to say we can still do it.”

Spurs tipped to be stronger than Arsenal next season

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson believes Tottenham will be stronger than the Gunners next season.

In Merson’s Daily Star column, he spoke about the two teams, who go head-to-head this evening, as well as Eric Dier’s situation.

The ex-Arsenal man believes Mikel Arteta’s side are a bit behind Mourinho’s men: “Sunday’s derby is a close one to call. But I think Arsenal are a bit behind Tottenham.

“Neither of them are going to finish in the top-four this season but there’s more chance of Spurs doing that next season than Arsenal.”
