Jose Mourinho makes Tanguy Ndombele statement as dig aimed at 'uninspiring' Tottenham

Tottenham avoided a fourth defeat in a row after drawing 1-1 with Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Things didn't start too well for Jose Mourinho's men with Clarets' striker Chris Wood capitalising on a spill from Hugo Lloris to put Burnley ahead in just the 13th minute of the match.

Two half-time changes came for Tottenham as they searched for a way back into the game in the second half, and they made an instant impact.

With less than four minutes played of the second period Ben Mee bought down Erik Lamela in the penalty area to give Dele Alli the chance to draw Tottenham level from the spot, a chance which he took with both hands.

That is how the score would stay with chances for both teams coming and going.

Spurs now have the Champions League round of 16 second leg to concentrated on as they travel to Germany to take on RB Leipzig.

Here is the latest news from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of that game.

Mourinho makes Ndombele statement

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has launched a scathing criticism at midfielder Tanguy Ndombele after taking the player off during the half time break at Turf-Moor.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Spurs head coach didn't hold back when talking about the Frenchman's performance in the first half of the 1-1 draw.

"My thinking was that in the first half we didn't have a midfield. Simple as that," he said.

"I think more important than the tactics is to have midfield players that want the ball, to have midfield players that connect the game, to have midfield players that press, to have midfield players that recover ball, to have midfield players that win duels and we didn't have it."

Tadic aims dig at Spurs

Ajax player Dusan Tadic has aimed a dig at both Tottenham and Liverpool following last season's Champions League loss against Spurs.

The dutch club went out at the semi-final stage of the competition after Lucas Moura's hat trick in the second leg secured a dramatic passage for Tottenham.

Talking to B92 , the former Southampton man has spoke of his memories of that night .

"I will do anything to erase that match from my memory," he said.

"If we had done to Tottenham what I had to do, we would have won against Liverpool."
