Jose Mourinho makes statement on Dele Alli's Spurs future and confirms Sergio Reguilon decision

Dele Alli will travel with Tottenham to Macedonia for their clash with KF Shkëndija and looks set to play a part.

The England international was left out of Sunday's win over Southampton and that led to talk over a possible exit with PSG linked.

But Jose Mourinho has maintained Alli remains part of his plans and he has included him in the travelling group for the Europa League third round qualifying clash with KF Shkëndija, while new signing Sergio Reguilon has missed out.

"Dele Alli will make the trip. Sergio [Reguilon] no," said Mourinho in his press conference.

Mourinho: Dele doesn't need to be sacrificed

"He's not even in the UEFA list because we knew he couldn't be ready to play this match, so we kept this list from the previous round so Sergio not yet."

Asked to expand on the Alli situation, Mourinho added: "I always said that Dele will have a chance.

"He's coming. He'll have a chance to perform and it's important that he does. It's important that every player does."

When asked about Alli's future, Mourinho responded: "I see him staying.

"There is a tendency now that when a player performs or doesn't perform to give responsibilities to coach because they gave him the right stick or didn't.

"I always feel that 99% of the responsibility is the player. I, and the staff who work with the player, have 1%."

Alli played 45 minutes of Tottenham's season opener against Everton but found himself omitted from the whole squad for the trip to Southampton.

That has led to talk over Alli's Spurs future, but an exit does not seem to be close with Mourinho still keen to give him a chance.
