Jose Mourinho makes Liverpool admission and points to Dejan Lovren and Fabinho

Jose Mourinho admits his Tottenham Hotspur team cannot compare to European and world champions Liverpool.

The Londoners became the latest team swept aside by the Reds when they were defeated 1-0 at home in the Premier League on Saturday.

Having faced Liverpool in the Champions League final last season, Tottenham are now 31 points adrift of the league leaders having played a game more.

Mourinho has bemoaned his squad options since replacing Mauricio Pochettino as boss in November, underlined by handing teenage defender Japhet Tanganga a first Premier League start at the weekend.

And the Portuguese pointed to the players who weren't even on the bench for Liverpool as a sign of the greater strength available to Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

"Come on, it is what it is," said Mourinho on Monday.

Blood Red: Jose Mourinho felt side deserved more against 'best team in the world'

"Yesterday, I was watching Man City and I looked to the bench: (Raheem) Sterling, Bernardo Silva, (Ilkay) Gundogan, (Nicolas) Otamendi. You know?

"Liverpool, you see the team, you see the bench.

"And they have injured (Joel) Matip, (Dejan) Lovren, (Naby) Keïta, Fabinho. I’m not jealous, I have an amazing job, but they are different jobs.

"I am so happy, not for me, with what Tanganga means for the building. This is a different club."
