Gareth Bale is in the Tottenham starting XI in the league for the first time since the team's defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of last month.
Since his poor showing at the Amex, the Wales international has impressed for Spurs in the Europa League and also in last weekend's defeat at West Ham.
Mourinho dropped a huge hint over the loanee on Wednesday evening as he started on the bench against Wolfsberger AC, with the 31-year-old subsequently starting today's game against Burnley.
While explaining his decision to start with Bale against the Clarets, Mourinho stated that the Premier League is not more important than the Europa League at present.
“We want to win, that’s the main objective and we believe that these players are ready for it," he told Sky Sports ahead of the game.
"As you can see, we changed 10 players from the last match - a Europa League match - but the last match and we changed 10 players.
"Gareth didn’t play that match, thinking already that for him at the moment, it’s too much to play consecutive matches but we think they are going to play against a team that defends very well.
"They can press high, but they can also defend low and Gareth is a player with quality to help us so we decided to play with Lamela in the Europa League and play Gareth in this match.
“People like Dele, Winks, Sissoko - there are lots of players that are pushing for a start in the Premier League but at the moment, the Premier League is not more important than the Europa League.”
Bale's start against Burnley is only his third in the league since his return to north London in September.
