Jose Mourinho launches fresh attack on Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool as Tottenham fury continues

Jose Mourinho has launched a fresh attack on Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool as the fallout from Tottenham Hotspur's Anfield defeat continues.

The Reds moved three points clear of the Londoners at the top of the Premier League table with a last-minute 2-1 win on Wednesday evening.

Mourinho claimed afterwards "the best team lost" despite Tottenham having only 24% possession, and was unhappy with the touchline behaviour of Klopp for which he believes he would be sent off.

And the Portuguese has now suggested he was forced to substitute Giovani Lo Celso in the second half because Klopp and the Liverpool bench were attempting to get the midfielder sent off after an earlier yellow card for a poor foul on Andy Robertson.

"At half-time we moved a little bit the pieces to try and improve, which we did," said Mourinho, as reported in the Evening Standard.

"The tactical changes were to try to give Gio Lo Celso more space coming from the right to start having a little bit more of the ball and find counter-attack situations, which we did immediately in the first 10 minutes.

"(But) With this yellow card and the behaviour of these guys they have on the touchline, putting incredible pressure on referees I feared for a possible second yellow card.

"And Gio was playing exactly in front of their bench in an area that was very dangerous. So I was afraid of the yellow card and I had to take him off."
