Jose Mourinho jokes about signing potential Son Heung-min replacement after injury blow

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has joked that he could look to bring a familiar face back to North London as a replacement for crocked forward Son Heung-min.

Son joins Harry Kane on the sidelines and could be out of action for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken arm during the 3-2 victory over Aston Villa.

That hands Spurs a significant blow in their top-four push and their Champions League aspirations, where they lock horns with RB Leipzig in the Round of 16.

Meanwhile in Spain, Barcelona have been granted permission to secure an emergency signing due to Ousmane Dembele's injury setback.

Asked about whether it was possible to follow Barcelona's footsteps by signing a replacement, Mourinho said: "I didn't [check] and was not aware of that possibility.

"I don't think it's possible honestly, I don't think it's possible - but Peter Crouch!"

Crouch is currently without a club after leaving Stoke City and has since turned to punditry duties for BT Sport, where he usually covers Spurs' Champions League exploits.
