Jose Mourinho joins Sky Sports punditry team ahead of Man Utd vs Chelsea clash at Old Trafford

Sky Sports have announced a high-profile addition to their Premier League punditry team in the form of Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager, out of the game since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018, will begin his new role on Sunday as two of his former clubs - the Red Devils and Chelsea - collide on the opening weekend of the season at Old Trafford.

Mourinho joins a Sky team already including the likes of Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness and Jamie Redknapp.

However, the move to the studio is not a permanent one for the 56-year-old, who is still planning to return to the dugout in future.

"The Premier League is a special competition for me, one that takes so much hard work to win and you just can’t take your eyes off the matches every week," Mourinho said.

“Sky Sports is the home of the Premier League and it’s a pleasure for me to join this team and help to understand and explain what happened in each match.

"Football is a huge passion, it means so much to the fans, and I look forward to being part of the Premier League with them until I return to my place on the touch line.”
