Jose Mourinho issues update on whether Eric Dier will play at Burnley following fan altercation

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Eric Dier will play for Tottenham against Burnley on Saturday evening.

The 26-year-old was in the headlines on Wednesday after entering the stands at the full-time whistle to confront a fan who had gotten into an altercation with his younger brother.

The FA is currently investigation what happened following the penalty shootout defeat against Norwich City and Mourinho stated after the game that his player should not be punished for the incident.

Having started at centre-back in the team's last two fixtures, it appears that the versatile player will once again get the nod when they take on Sean Dyche's in-form side.

Speaking to Sky Sports News ahead of his pre-match press conference, the head coach opened up on Dier and whether he will take to the pitch in Lancashire.

"I don't think there is any reason for him not to be in the right frame of mind," he said. "He played two matches so well, played so well in a back three against Wolves, in a back four against Norwich.

"He showed me things I couldn't probably imagine if I came here in July. I know already what he can do.

"What happened was clear, almost nothing happened, so I think so.

"Especially before I arrive he wasn't playing much, he has to play tomorrow. We go with him again."
