Jose Mourinho hires five new Roma scouts including Leicester chief who spotted Harry Maguire

Jose Mourinho will return to Serie A next season for his first taste of Italian football since he left Inter Milan in 2010 after guiding them to a treble including a historic Champions League win.

This time, Mourinho will be at the helm of AS Roma as he aims to help the Italian outfit build on a season that saw them succumb to a disappointing seventh placed finish, though previous boss Paulo Fonseca did guide them to the Europa League semi-final.

That was not enough for him to keep his job, as their league standings ensured they failed to qualify for any European competition and Mourinho was brought in to try and restore some degree of success to the club who have not won a trophy since the 2008 Coppa Italia.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs boss officially began his new role on July 1st, when his contract started.

As part of his pre-season preparations, Mourinho has reportedly appointed five new scouts from across the continent to join him at Roma in a bid to unearth some of the best talent in Europe.

One of the scouts among the five is his countryman Jose Fontes, best known for discovering some of the gems we have seen line up for Leicester City in the Premier League.

Harry Maguire, Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu were all finds from Fontes, who helped bring the trio to the King Power Stadium before earning the club £80m when Maguire was sold to Manchester United, making him the most expensive British defender in history.

Remarkably, Fontes is also credited with bringing both current Foxes stars James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira to the club, with Maddison recently the subject of interest from Arsenal, who will have to pay £70m if they are to secure the attacking midfielder.

A former banking analyst, Fontes announced his departure from Leicester City on twitter, writing: "I have decided to leave Leicester City FC after 5 unforgettable years.

"The journey has been truly memorable. I wish the club and all foxes fans continued success for the future."

A report from Corriere dello Sport revealed that Mourinho has also added AC Milan scout Enrico Paresce, former Juventus and Inter Milan chief Mauro Leo as well as ex-Bayer Leverkusen analyst Javier Weimar.

Ex-Roma player and pundit Alessio Scarchilli has also been added to Mourinho's all-star scouting team.
