Jose Mourinho gives Harry Kane injury hint that will concern Tottenham fans

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho has suggested that Harry Kane could be out for longer than first feared.

The Spurs striker is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, having ruptured a tendon in his left hamstring in Tottenham's 1-0 defeat against Southampton at St Mary's on New Year's Day.

Tottenham confirmed that specialists had advised an operation was needed, following tests, and Kane has since had surgery on the injury, with Spurs confirming that he was expected to be out until April.

But speaking ahead of Spurs' FA Cup third round replay against Middlesbrough at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Mourinho has hinted that Kane could actually be out for longer than that.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane set for lengthy spell on the sidelines after injury

“News on Harry we don’t have and if you ask me every time we come here the answer will be the same," he said.

"We expect him to be out until, I don’t know, mid-April, end of April, May, next season I don’t know.

"I have no updates to give on Harry.”

This is despite Kane posting a positive message on social media as he started his rehabilitation from surgery, with the Spurs and England striker stating that surgery had gone very well and he was now focused on his recovery.
