Jose Mourinho explains why Tottenham star Dele Alli is hitting form again

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho says Dele Alli has rediscovered his mojo after building his confidence and self-esteem.

Alli, whose poor performances and injuries over the last few months had seen him dropped from the England squad, has rediscovered his star quality since Mourinho arrived at the club last month, bagging a brace in the 3-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The 23-year-old put Spurs 2-0 up before Moussa Sissoko appeared to put the game beyond the Cherries. Harry Wilson's late double made things uncomfortable, but Mourinho's men held out to make it three straight wins since his arrival.

Alli's brace took him to three goals in three games - as well as two assists - and he has been the figurehead of a Tottenham resurgence under the Portuguese.

"A player of such quality — it is not possible that he is not performing at a high level," Mourinho said when asked about Alli's form when he arrived in November.

"Sometimes they are not at their best level, but I find him a good guy in the group. Not a selfish person that thinks only about himself. Not at all. He's a Spurs boy, a group boy. I just feel it now that his self esteem is coming up and lots of confidence to play."

Mourinho made a point of trying to reinvigorate Alli when he first arrived, teasing him for playing like "Dele's brother", and it has worked a treat.

"Dele, I don't need to speak about," Mourinho said after Saturday's 3-2 win over Bournemouth.

"The best thing that can happen to a coach is when you don't need to speak about a player because everybody speaks, all of you, fans, everybody speaks about him and speaks about him for the right reasons.

"He's playing really, really, really well. I couldn't ask for any more from him. He's playing amazing, scoring goals, assisting, working, fantastic."
