Jose Mourinho explains what Mauricio Pochettino got wrong vs Ajax

Mauricio Pochettino has largely done a fantastic job at Tottenham Hotspur as they aim to finish inside the Premier League top three for the fourth season in succession - but that hasn't stopped Jose Mourinho hammering the manager.

Whilst the former Southampton boss has failed to pick up silverware, Spurs are in a much better position than they were before Pochettino arrived.

Spurs are consistently competing with the best in the Premier League and that's despite a lack of finances made available for transfers.

But Mourinho has still criticised the Argentinian for the way he set up against Ajax in their 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea boss believes Pochettino set up wrong defensively and he insists that it was one of the main reasons why Spurs lost the tie in the capital.

"Tottenham were playing with three centre-backs against nobody," Mourinho explained.

"Did Tottenham expose that huge space they (Ajax) were leaving in behind? I don't think so."

But Mourinho did offer Spurs some hope by saying Ajax haven't truly felt pressure in the Champions League up to this point.

"I don't they have had pressure until now. They are almost there. They won't sleep very well and they will be all dreaming. It's a big game next week," Mourinho added.
