Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has told football.london what Tanguy Ndombele must improve on in the months ahead but admitted he's a "fantastic talent".
The 22-year-old France international joined Spurs from Lyon in the summer for a club record fee of what could be £63m, including add-ons.
Despite some questions over his fitness, with a couple of niggling injuries blighting his first four months of the season, Ndombele impressed under Mauricio Pochettino with two goals and three assists from central midfield.
However, under Mourinho the young Frenchman has struggled to cement a starting spot, not helped by a groin injury which has kept him out of the past three games.
Ndombele is now back in training and will be fit to face Chelsea at the weekend and Mourinho was asked where he believes the Frenchman's best position is.
"He's a multi-functional midifeld player," he told football.london."I'm not telling you the way we are going to play.
"I'm not even telling you that we're not going to change because when you get a more tactical culture and the players work more time with you, you are able to change in this moment.
"Clearly you could feel that in the first two, three four matches I was very careful of trying to get the players into some stability and some dynamic.
"But Tanguy can play as a six, as an eight, as a double. He is a player with a lot of quality, he just needs to be physically strong and mentally adapted to the Premier League.
"The French league is a completely different story, a completely different profile. But [he's a] fantastic talent so we are happy that he can help us."
