Jose Mourinho explains exactly why he's been riding a bicycle around Tottenham training sessions

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has been making full use of a bicycle during the team's training sessions in recent days and he's now explained why.

The Portuguese has been spotted cycling around Hotspur Way and some of the Spurs stars like Dele Alli and Son Heung-min have also been photographed getting on their bikes.

Mourinho explained that his bicycle has become essential as he deals with having so many players spread out around the training ground due to social distancing.

Alasdair Gold's Facebook Live Tottenham Q&A

“I would like to do more and more [work in the community] but when we started moving to opening the training ground to players, it becomes impossible," he told Sky Sports.

"There was a period where we were starting 9am in the morning and finishing 5pm because by having players training individually, we had to organise lots of different slots, and the boys were coming at different times.

"We were really tired for a certain period. You can find a funny picture of me on a bike because we covered a huge distance and without the bike, I couldn’t control all of the sessions at the same time!"

He added on his work in helping the process of delivering food to the vulnerable during lockdown: "Going into the community, especially in the period of the lockdown was really nice.

"I enjoyed the contact with people, I enjoyed how much I learnt in the training ground garden because it wasn't just taking the vegetables to our stadium to deliver to the people, it was also trying to have some fun and filling times in a different way, so to be with the boys in the garden was also a good experience for me."
