Jose Mourinho drops Giovani Lo Celso team news hint ahead of Spurs' trip to Wolves

Giovani Lo Celso made his first start under Jose Mourinho on Wednesday evening as Spurs lost 3-1 against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Coming off the bench late on against Bournemouth and Manchester United prior to the trip to Germany, it was a huge chance for the summer arrival to show the new boss exactly what he can do after playing a bit-part role under him so far.

Apart from a couple of flashes of quality in the first half, the 23-year-old had a quiet evening and he was duly substituted in the 65th minute as Oliver Skipp replaced him in the middle of the park.

Chances will come the player's way over the festive period given the amount of fixtures but Mourinho has revealed that the Argentine won't be in his starting XI at Wolves.

"He's our player. Our squad is not a big squad in numbers, and he will start for sure because It's impossible to play all the time with the same players," he told reporters when asked if Lo Celso could start more over the next few weeks.

"It looks obvious the way Dele is playing, Sonny. In this moment they are one step ahead. I couldn't hide from you that we have a few players one step ahead because of performance.

"So you want to be objective and ask if he starts Sunday, no he doesn't."

Mourinho was then pressed on whether the player could reach his full potential at Spurs but he admitted that he wasn't sure.

"I don't know," he added. "Impossible for me to say that. Some players they accelerate the process, some players arrive immediately and fit in, others they take long time. It's difficult to say."
