Jose Mourinho drops big hint over Michel Vorm's Tottenham career

Hugo Lloris looks on course to return to the Tottenham team for Saturday's game at Burnley.

The Frenchman has missed the past two fixtures due to a groin injury but he has since returned to training at Hotspur Way.

Paulo Gazzaniga started in goal last Sunday in the 3-2 defeat against Wolves, with Michel Vorm then a shock selection in midweek for the FA Cup fifth round defeat against Norwich City.

Given the big fixtures coming up for the team over the next few weeks, the World Cup winner's return has come at the perfect time with Burnley, RB Leipzig and Manchester United all to come.

Although Lloris is now back on the training field with his teammates, Jose Mourinho has claimed that he will make a call on the 33-year-old after their session on Friday afternoon.

"Decision to be made after training," he said at his pre-match press conference. "Training is at three, decision to be made after.

"If you ask whether I am expecting him to play I say yes but I cannot confirm."

Mourinho was later pushed on who would be between the sticks if Lloris fails to make it for the game at Turf Moor.

Stating he's confident that the ex-Lyon man will play, he did reveal who would be given the nod if it is indeed bad news.

"It's Paulo," he added. "Normally when Hugo is not playing it is Hugo that is playing every match apart from the last one.

"Paulo is the number two, let's say. If Hugo is not playing, which I hope he does, it will be Paulo playing."

Given that Gazzaniga is expected to start if Lloris is absent, it means that Vorm has now potentially played his last game for the Lilywhites unless there is an injury crisis in the goalkeeping department between now and May.

The Dutchman, who was initially released by the club last summer before re-signing in wake of Lloris' dislocated elbow, is out of contract at the end of the season and it appears that he will be on the lookout for a new club once again.

Academy graduate Brandon Austin headed out on loan to Danish side Viborg FF in January and he will be hoping to step up to third choice upon his return with more experience under his belt.
