Jose Mourinho delivers Harry Kane injury update that will concern Tottenham fans

Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho fears he could be without star man Harry Kane for some time.

The striker limped off against Southampton on New Year's Day with a hamstring injury and it has been confirmed by the club that he will miss Sunday's FA Cup third round clash with Middlesbrough as a result.

But Kane could be out for much longer than that.

Kane has missed periods in each of the last three seasons, mainly because of ankle injuries, but the hamstring issue now will be of concern to Tottenham fans, especially given their current run of form.

And Mourinho's comments on Kane will stoke up the fears among the Spurs faithful.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference Mourinho was asked for his thoughts on the England captain's injury.

He said: "I don’t know yet. Maybe later today we have news, but if you ask me my feeling good news or bad news, I am more on bad news than good news.

"Kane leaving a match the way he did it, he didn’t think twice, it took him two seconds to realise the severity of his situation."

Mourinho was grilled further on Kane and the grade of injury.

He added: "I’m not great on grades. I think I am great on experience and feelings. I’m not expecting very good news. I think we are going to lose him for some period. I’m totally convinced of that."

Son Heung-min will return to the Tottenham squad following a three-game suspension for the red card he picked up against Chelsea before Christmas, while youngster Troy Parrott will also be hoping to benefit.
