Jose Mourinho delivers blunt verdict on Chelsea's disallowed goal against Liverpool

Jose Mourinho and Graeme Souness have both weighed in on the debate surrounding Chelsea's disallowed goal against Liverpool.

Frank Lampard's side suffered their second defeat in a week at Stamford Bridge after Liverpool picked up a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino were on target for Jurgen Klopp's side, while N'Golo Kanté scored on his return to the Blues starting line-up.

But it was a moment in the first half which caused controversy. With Liverpool leading 1-0, Lampard's side thought they had equalised when César Azpilicueta finished from close-range.

However, as those in Blues inside the Bridge celebrated, referee Michael Oliver signalled that a VAR check was taking place over a potential offside in the build-up.

And following various replays, Mason Mount was judged to have swayed offside in the early stages of the build-up.

The call caused plenty of debate on social media, but both Souness and Mourinho, sitting in the Sky Studio, believe the right was decision was made.

“Yes, it’s an offside," the former Chelsea boss said.

"We can argue, we can disagree, we can say it’s not the main action. There’s a lot of football after that but what can you say? It’s an offside."

Before Souness added: “I’m sorry but you can ‘t be a little bit pregnant, can you? You’re offside or you’re not offside, he’s offside! It’s correct in my opinion.”
