Jose Mourinho delights Tottenham fans with praise of 'best stadium in the world' and unrivalled training ground

Jose Mourinho has managed at some of the biggest and best stadiums in the world - but he feels right at home at Tottenham already.

Following Tottenham's sensational sacking of Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday evening, the club quickly moved to hire Mourinho as head coach until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Mourinho has been sacked by both Chelsea and Manchester United over the past four years, but his reputation as a man who wins trophies wherever he goes was too much for Daniel Levy to resist.

Pochettino's failure to win a single trophy during his five-and-a-half year spell in charge of Spurs eventually counted against him when Spurs' form fell away this season.

Meanwhile, the club are in real danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League as they sit adrift in 14th position in the Premier League table - and that could have serious ramifications considering the club's big-money move to their new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 2019/20 campaign is Tottenham's first full season at their 62,062-capacity stadium, and the club can ill-afford - quite literally - a sustained spell away from the riches of Europe's elite club competition.

During his first interview as Spurs coach, Mourinho marvelled at the club's facilities - and declared them better than anything he has seen at previous clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United or Real Madrid.

"When you say beautiful stadium you are too humble," he told Spurs TV. "You have to say the best stadium in the world. I think that is the reality.

"The training ground is second to none. It probably can only be compared with some American football training grounds.

"You cannot compare with European football at any level - and I've been in the majority of the best places.

"It's impossible to compare anything, the same as the stadium.

"I think it's something that has to make us all very, very proud. But not just that, the conditions you have to work in are absolutely amazing
