Jose Mourinho confirms new Giovani Lo Celso setback ahead of Tottenham's Europa League game

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Giovani Lo Celso will not be available for the first leg of Tottenham's Europa League Round of 16 tie against Dinamo Zagreb.

Out of action since December because of a serious hamstring injury, the classy midfielder has been working his way back to full fitness in recent weeks.

Confirming last week that Lo Celso was nearing his return and could be back for the match against the Croatian side, he will once again have to watch on from the sidelines when Spurs return to European action.

However, the good news is that it is not another issue regarding his hamstring problem as the player is currently suffering from a bit of back pain.

JOSE MOURINHO DETAILS MID-GAME CHAT WITH GARETH BALE DURING TOTTENHAM WIN

"Gio is not ready but it's nothing to do with his previous important injury, from which he's totally recovered," explained Mourinho.

"But with his accumulation of work his feelings are not the best at the moment, a little bit of some back pain so he's had to stop working the way he was doing. So not for this match.

"Apart from that, Joe Rodon the only player not selected because he is not in the UEFA list.

"Apart from that every player is selected. As you know we can have two extra players on the Europa League bench and everybody is selected and everybody is fit.

"Am I going to repeat the same team that played against Crystal Palace? No, I'm going to make a few changes.

"But the team is working very well, everybody is training hard, everybody is pushing to play, so for me it doesn't matter who is playing as our team is going to be strong."

Initially set to be playing away in Zagreb first following last month's draw for the final 16 of the competition, Spurs will now start off at home after Arsenal were also drawn at home in the second leg.

As UEFA rules do not allow teams from the same city to play at home on the same evening, Arsenal's fixtures remained the same due to the fact they are domestic cup winners after lifting last season's FA Cup.

Asked about the fixture switch, Mourinho said: "On December 6th we played Arsenal in our stadium. On December 3rd they played at home against Rapid Vienna.

"At the same time we were playing in the ice in Linz with a late flight back. Was that an advantage to Arsenal?"
