Jose Mourinho confirms Harry Kane decision for crunch Tottenham clash vs Man Utd

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Harry Kane will start their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Friday night.

After the coronavirus crisis brought a temporary halt to the season in March, Spurs finally return to action with a tricky home encounter against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Red Devils.

And Kane, undoubtedly the main beneficiary of the postponed season, is now fully fit.

The England captain has been out since New Year's Day, having undergone surgery on a hamstring injury.

While his recovery was going well, he was not due to return until late April, meaning he would not have been fully fit for the end of the campaign and would have had very little football going into Euro 2020.

But the lockdown period has allowed him to step up his fitness and Kane is now available for Spurs as they mount an ambitious bid to secure a top-four spot.

Mourinho's side, who have endured a tough campaign so far, sit eight in the table and trail Chelsea in fourth by seven points.

Tottenham boss Mourinho also said Giovani Lo Celso is a doubt for Friday's game with Manchester United.

The Argentina international picked up an injury just before the season's suspension and was unable to receive daily treatment because of the lockdown.

But Mourinho did say that Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min, who all had surgery earlier this year, will start against United.

Mourinho also said that the club are hopeful to extend Jan Vertonghen's contract beyond June 30, but nothing has been agreed yet.
