Jose Mourinho blasts Kurt Zouma for 'basic' Marcus Rashford mistake during Man United vs Chelsea

Frank Lampard's first Premier League game as head coach of Chelsea has not been easy.

The Blues found themselves a goal down at half-time against Manchester United at Old Trafford, despite hitting the woodwork twice.

Tammy Abraham smashed a shot against David de Gea's post early on, before Marcus Rashford converted a penalty, having won it himself, after being upended by Kurt Zouma in the box.

Emerson Palmieri later struck the angle of post and bar in what was a frantic and open first half to the new campaign.

Zouma struggled throughout the first period, picking up a yellow card too, as he attempted to secure a regular spot in Lampard's Chelsea lineup, having spent last season out on loan with Everton.

In the Sky Sports studio for the first time this season was new pundit Jose Mourinho, who of course managed both sides.

And Mourinho was less than impressed with Zouma's defending.

He blasted the Frenchman for the "basic" mistake that led to United opening the scoring.

He said: "I would be very frustrated with Zouma, because you analyse opponents and that is one basic thing when you play against Marcus Rashford.

"In that position, in the box, he always goes to the inside, he always goes to look for his favourite foot, his favourite position, his favourite shot because he loves the shot in that position there.

"You just have to control the inside and you don't need to put your leg in."
