Jose Mourinho assesses Harry Kane injury scare ahead of Arsenal vs Tottenham

Jose Mourinho insists Harry Kane will be fit for the North London derby after giving Tottenham an injury scare.

Kane scored twice to put Tottenham on course for the Europa League quarter finals but as substituted in the dying minutes and then had an ice pack put on his right knee.

But Tottenham boss Mourinho says the injury was nothing major and believes Kane - whose brace took him to 26 goals in all competitions this season - will be ready to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Mourinho said: “I hope he will be fit, I believe so and I don’t think he will miss out on being there but let’s see the reaction after the game.

“I don't believe it is anything big. Sunday is a match everyone wants to play and little things will not stop him. I don't have the feeling it is anything serious.

"He is doing everything. He is doing the striker job of scoring goals, the teamwork of creating space and linking play and the extra work not many strikers do in defence.

"He helps us a lot. He has an incredible number of clearances from crosses and corners.

“We couldn't be happier. I gave a rest to many of the players and am so happy with what Vinicius is giving us. But with Harry on the pitch it is a different story for us.

“The result could have been a bit bigger and we could have had a penalty but we will have to go there with a serious performance because we are not yet in the quarter finals. We didn’t kill the tie so it’s still open.”

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris added: "We had some ups and downs in the season but we come into an important period now and it is good to feel the players are ready to help the team.

"If we work well as a team we will give our talent more power to make the difference.”
