José González returns to Australia for the first time in seven years, following the release of his 2015 album Vestiges & Claws. The singer-songwriter, born to Argentinian parents and raised in Gothenburg, got plenty of international attention with the release of his classical-guitar cover of The Knife’s Heartbeats (2003).
Sweden’s answer to Nick Drake and Elliot Smith has also crafted spare melodic renditions of Joy Division and Massive Attack. The 37-year-old recently wrote the soundtrack for his first feature film, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, after creating songs for television shows Friday Night Lights, House and Scrubs.
