Jose Enrique sends message after Liverpool reunion and Luis Suarez meeting

Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique was at Anfield on Wednesday night to see the Reds progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The Spaniard is much loved amongst the Liverpool fans after speaking highly of the club since his retirement from football in 2017 due to a persistent knee injury.

Enrique was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in 2018 and later announced in 2019 that he has received the all-clear after recovering from surgery.

After completing a move to Anfield in 2011, the Spaniard went on to make 99 appearances for Liverpool in the five years he spent at the club.

And the former left-back met up with ex-team-mates and Jurgen Klopp at Anfield after watching the Reds beat Atletico Madrid. He was also pictured with Luis Suarez.

In a post on his Instagram account, Enrique said: ”What a great win yesterday by the team!

“It was so good to catch up with the boss, some of my ex-teammates, current players and lots of people that work for LFC who I haven’t seen for a long time.

“This club will always be very special to me.”

Enrique won the League Club at Liverpool during his first season on Merseyside after completing a move from Newcastle.
