BRIEF: Saturday's recap: Cubs 9, White Sox 2

March 13--The Cubs jumped on White Sox starter Erik Johnson for five earned runs in the first three innings on the way to a 9-2 victory at Sloan Park. The Sox had just two hits over four scoreless innings against Cubs starter Jason Hammel.

At the plate

Avisail Garcia hit his second homer of the spring, to left field in the seventh inning. Tyler Saladino's double in the fifth drove in the Sox's first run.

On the mound

Sox reliever Daniel Webb gave up three earned runs on five hits in two innings of relief.

Injury report

Sox reliever Jake Petricka left the game as a precautionary measure after a comebacker grazed his right shoulder. Sox manager Robin Ventura said he was fine.

Key number

13.50: Johnson's ERA over two spring starts.

The quote

"Everybody knows each one of these games between the Cubs and White Sox are intense. It doesn't matter if it's spring training or during the season, these games mean something. It's good to feel this kind of atmosphere and rivalry because you're getting in the mood for the season." -- Sox first baseman Jose Abreu through a team interpreter
