Jos Buttler scored the fastest one-day hundred by an England player – breaking his own record – as he reached 104 off 46 balls during the first innings of the fourth and final one-day international against Pakistan in Dubai.
It was a sensational display by the 25-year-old, who lost his place in England’s Test squad during the recently completed series against Pakistan and has been struggling for form since the last Ashes. Buttler combined a variety of shots, some delicate, some unorthodox, some just plain big, to make his century.
Buttler broke his previous best record by 15 balls and, in total, scored 116 from 52 balls as England finished on 355 for five. The tourists put on 129 in the final 10 overs.
During the first innings Jason Roy also notched his first century for England, scoring 102 from 117 balls.
Pakistan need to win the match to level the four-game series.
