Jorginho warns Chelsea must learn from "mistakes" to become a force again

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho believes the club need to learn from their mistakes if they are to become a Premier League force again.

The Brazilian, who lifted the Europa League with the Blues last season, has suggested the club have made too many changes in recent seasons.

Chelsea have had three head coaches in the past four years.

Jorginho, who moved to Stamford bridge in July 2018 for £57million, said: “When it started, we ended up doing more than expected. But we did it very fast! And then the expectation was up there for us to keep what, honestly, was not what we were ready to do.

“Change of so many players, change of coach. I'm not even going to talk about the youth issue, which has a lot of young players this year.

“But it’s normal, if you stop to evaluate our squad, our team, it’s normal for us to make these mistakes. And it’s normal for us to have to grow up, learn from it to reduce mistakes and be up there.

“Sometimes, honestly, there’s a lack of group experience, of understanding the moments of the game, you know? Sometimes you can’t attack, attack, attack. Sometimes you have to hold the game a little. So whether you like it or not, I believe it is also a matter of time to be able to grow.“

Jorginho remains a target for Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri who took him to Stamford Bridge from Napoli.

But the player’s agent, Joao Santos, claimed this week he is happy in London.

Santos said: “Neither Sarri, nor [Juve’s chief football officer] Fabio Paratici called me to have information on Jorginho.

“As of today, I know absolutely nothing about this situation. The lad is very happy in London, where he is proving his worth and still has three years left on his contract.”
