'Jorginho to Arsenal confirmed by Lampard' - Gunners fans spot transfer hint in Chelsea team

Arsenal were linked with a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho last week.

The Gunners are in the market for a new midfield man during this extended transfer window, with the likes of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar heavily linked.

But Jorginho, who has not always been a favourite of Frank Lampard's at Chelsea, emerged as a shock transfer target last week.

Manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the speculation during his Liverpool press conference on Friday.

He said: "We are still open to improve our team. We are looking for different options depending on what happens with our players here. We are getting prepared just in case we need to do something.

"I cannot open up on players that play for a different team and their qualities. It's not appropriate."

The Italian started both of Chelsea's first two games of the season, but was benched by Lampard for the game against Werst Brom on Saturday evening, just days after the transfer rumours began.

And that led to plenty of talk on Twitter, from Arsenal supporters in particular.

Many felt the team selection by the Blues head coach was a hint to an imminent transfer across London.

There were a few that suggested Jorginho was not the right man for Arsenal, however.
