Jorginho's verdict on whether he should have been sent off will enrage Arsenal fans

Jorginho believes referee Craig Pawson made the right call in not showing him a second yellow card against Arsenal.

The Chelsea midfielder hauled down Matteo Guendouzi in the middle of pitch, and although Pawson awarded the Gunners a free-kick, he opted against given the former Napoli man his marching orders.

Arsenal’s players were left incensed by the decision with Alexander Lacazette receiving a booking for his reaction to the call.

And then things were made even worse for Mikel Arteta’s side when Jorginho scored Chelsea’s equaliser at the Emirates.

"It was not my fault. Contact in football is normal. It was a foul but no more I think,” the midfielder replied when asked about the incident by Sky Sports post-match.

Before adding:"In this first 10 minutes we were too soft so I was told to push my mates. I think we changed the game."

Frank Lampard’s side recovered from going a goal down in the first half to score twice in the final 10 minutes to earn themselves all three points.

And Tammy Abraham, the scorer of Chelsea’s winning goal, praised the impact Jorginho had off the bench.

“I give credit to the boys and to Jorginho,” the England international told Sky Sports.

“They dominated the ball in midfield in the first half but this man [Jorginho] came on and it was a totally different ball game. He lifted us as a team and the second half was a complete performance.

"I knew it was a matter of time before I would score against a top six team and thankfully it came today."
