Jorginho is happy at Chelsea but a return to Italy might be on the cards at some point, according to his agent.
The midfielder was linked with a move away in the summer but opted to stay and fight for his spot at Stamford Bridge, a decision that has largely paid off with the Italian getting plenty of game time under Frank Lampard this season.
In October, Jorginho himself admitted to considering a departure, telling ESPN Brazil: “I believe that every player is open to negotiations.
“So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here.
“Now my head is here and we’re going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”
Ultimately, the decision proved a wise one with the 29-year-old already racking up 17 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea so far this season.
And it seems a transfer away from Stamford Bridge is not something Jorginho or Chelsea are considering this month.
The midfielder's agent Joao Santos told the Mirror: "It was a great year for Jorge, he did very well in the national team as well. Next year there will be the European Championship, where he hopes to do very well with Italy.
"As for Chelsea, they are not very well-placed in the table now, but being a young team, it takes time. Jorge is a Chelsea player and he is very happy there, but I wouldn't rule out a return to Italy in future."
That all sounds like good news for Chelsea, apart from the very last line, which suggests a return to Italy is on the cards for Jorginho at some point.
Though, that may not be completely surprising, particularly given Chelsea are being linked with strengthening the holding midfield position either this month or in the summer with the possible signing of Declan Rice, who would likely oust Jorginho from his current starting role.
