Jorginho's agent gives update on his future as Ancelotti dents Chelsea's Kounde plan

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Monday, June 7.

Jorginho's agent confirms his future

Italian midfielder Jorginho has enjoyed life under Thomas Tuchel, playing a key role in the Blues' second-ever Champions League triumph.

Therefore, it is no surprise that the 29-year-old is happy with life in London as his agent weighed in on Jorginho's future.

"Every coach makes his own choices, they are all different. Lampard is a Chelsea legend, he has his view, but maybe Jorginho’s characteristics were not the best ones for him," Santos told Football Italia.

"They won the Champions League this season and to me they [Jorginho and N'golo Kante] form the best midfield partnership in Europe right now."

"He has two years left in his contract," he added.

"Chelsea have many targets for 2021-22. The Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the European Super Cup, so we are planning to stay there."

Mount's goal tally frustration

Chelsea midfield maestro Mason Mount enjoyed a stellar 2020/21 campaign, bagging nine goals and seven assists across all four competitions, including an exquisite through ball to set up Kai Havertz's goal in the Champions League final.

Despite his standout performances, the Englishman has admitted he was disappointed with his goal tally.

"You have to set goals before every season and you have to really set the target high to want to achieve that," he told Chelsea's website.

"I always want to go for ten goals and just came short of that this season but I’ve had a lot of chances so I can’t look at it and say I’m happy with nine.

"I could and should have had way more, which is something that I’ll definitely be looking at. I was actually speaking to Joe Edwards [assistant coach] recently about looking at where on the pitch I am most productive and where I can be more productive.

"I actually score most of my goals from the middle of the box so where there are areas that I can do better, I need to look at them and see what I can improve on.

Chelsea face Kounde competition

Sevilla centre-back Joules Kounde has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer as Thomas Tuchel looks to add to an already formidable defence.

However, according to Le10 Sport, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti's priority is signing a centre-back this summer, with Kounde on the Italian's shortlist.

Los Blancos' Raphael Varane has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer and the Frenchman's defensive partner Sergio Ramos is also set to depart the Spanish capital as his contract is due to expire at the end of this month.

This could mean Madrid move for Kounde, who Real president Florentino Perez has been tracking for "several weeks".

Chelsea do have other transfer priorities though, with a striker high on the agenda for Tuchel this summer.
